Dr. Jörn Bühring is an Assistant Professor at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, School of Design. He earned a BA-equivalent degree in the field of Tourism Management (HH), an M.B.A. (VU) majoring in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and a PhD in futures Consumer Engagement Innovation at Swinburne University of Technology (SWIN)... read morein Australia. In his current position, he is developing a collaborative approach (Design Economy, Ignite Innovation Futures) that brings academia, designers, and business stakeholders together to develop high-impact design knowledge, concepts, and solutions. His research explores Design Foresight, Vision and Fiction techniques as emerging processes within Strategic Design and Innovation Management. Projects include direct collaboration with industry leadership (c-suite teams and boards of directors) and joint venture alliances (academia and industry). In both cases, the work is rooted deeply in research with the intention of applying Design Thinking, Strategic Foresight, and Futures Innovation to help illuminate pathways forward. An honorary Adjunct Associate Professor within the College of Business at RMIT University, he collaborates with leading Universities in research and design-led innovation. Prior to entering academia, he gained international work experiences in corporate leadership throughout various industry, company, and project initiatives, including innovative start-ups, new business formations, and new market entries. He has worked across a wide range of global brand icons (e.g. Bang & Olufsen A/S, Toyota, Four Seasons), organisational cultures, and international markets.
