Prof. Lai is interested in the structure, function and regulation of calcium signaling proteins, with particular focus on the ryanodine-sensitive intracellular calcium release channel (ryanodine receptor), as well as a phosphoinositide-specific phospholipase-C that can trigger intracellular calcium oscillations (PLC-zeta).
