Dr. Hawn studies the role of genetic variation of the innate immune response to Mycobacterium tuberculosis. He uses a combination of molecular, cellular, systems biology, and human genetic techniques to pursue an overall research goal of understanding the genetic basis and molecular mechanisms of human susceptibility to infectious diseases.
