Dr. Dave Westenberg is Associate Professor of Biological Sciences at Missouri University of Science and Technology. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology and Public Health from Michigan State University and his PhD in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics from the University of California, Los Angeles. He spent two... read moreyears in Germany as an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow and four years as a USDA post-doctoral fellow at Dartmouth College. His laboratory studies plant-microbe interactions and antibacterial materials. He is an American Society for Microbiology Scholar-in-Residence (Biology Scholar) and chaired the ASM Committee for K-12 Outreach for 7 years. In addition to his research and teaching he advises several student organizations including co-advising the Missouri S&T IGEM, synthetic biology student design team.
