Christian was educated at the Universities of Mainz (MSc) and Heidelberg (PhD) and holds a higher doctorate (Habilitation) from the University of Kaiserslautern. Christian currently acts as an external examiner for Xian Jiatong & Liverpool University in Suzhou, China.
