Professor Niimura attended the University of Tokyo and obtained a Bachelor of Science in 1994 before going on to earn his PhD in Physics at the University of Tokyo in 1999. He now practises in the Department of Veterinary Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Miyazaki and currently... read moreheads the Laboratory of Veterinary Genetics and Informatics. He possesses expertise in molecular evolution, comparative genomics, and bioinformatics. He is interested in the evolution of multigene families; particularly, genes involved in senses such as olfaction and pheromone detection. He also examine researches for applying molecular evolution to agriculture and veterinary sciences.
