Stephanie Schorge is a Royal Society University Research Fellow at the UCL Institute of Neurology. She obtained a PhD in Neuroscience from Brown University, and joined the UCL Department of Pharmacology in 1999, initially carrying out studies of biophysics of ion channels, and then moving the the UCL Institute of... read moreNeurology where she began exploring how mutations in ion channels can lead to human diseases, and conversely how human diseases can lead to changes in ion channels. She is presently investigating how genetic variation in sodium channels may alter the development and treatment of epilepsy, and collaborating within the Department of Clinical and Experimental Epilepsy to develop new gene therapy tools to treat epilepsy. She serves on the Science Advisory Committee for Epilepsy Research UK (ERUK) and for the Contained Use of Genetically Modified Organisms (SACGM).
