Biography

Ronald F. Pfeiffer, MD is Professor and Vice Chair of the Department of Neurology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and his medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He then completed neurological training... read moreat the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He has extensive experience in clinical trials of experimental medications for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease, with participation in over 70 clinical trials, and has a particular interest in gastrointestinal dysfunction in Parkinson’s disease. Dr. Pfeiffer is a long standing member of the Parkinson Study Group. He was Chair of the Movement Disorders Section of the American Academy of Neurology from 2012 – 2014, Chair of the Continuing Medical Education Committee of the Movement Disorder Society from 2004-2010, and Chair of the Other Nonmotor Subgroup of the NINDS Parkinson’s Disease Common Element Working Group from 2009-2012. Dr. Pfeiffer has been author or co-author of over 300 journal articles or book chapters and has been co-editor of 7 books or monographs. He currently is Co-Editor-in-Chief of the journal, Parkinsonism and Related Disorders. Dr. Pfeiffer received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Concordia University-Nebraska in 2001.
