Ann Langley is Professor of Strategic Management and Research methods at HEC Montreal, Canada and Director of PhD. and MSC programs. She obtained her undergraduate and masters degrees in the UK and her PhD in administration at... read moreHEC in 1987 after working for several years as an alayst both in the private sector (Mars Ltd, UK) and in the public sector (health systems consultant). Her early research was inspired by these work experiences, and dealt with the role of analysis in organizations. Since then, she has pursued her interest in strategic management processes, focusing particularly on complex organizations with multiple goals and ambigious authority. Her recent work deals with strategic decision-making, innovation, and leadership and strategic change in the health care sector. She is currently working on a major project in two teaching hospitals that examines the management of implementation of hospital merges. Her work has appeared in journals such as Academy of Management Review, Administrative Science Quarterly, Organization Studies, Organization Science, Journal of Management Studies, Canadian Journal of Administrative Sciences and Sloan Management Review. She also has several French language publications in journals such as Sciences Sociales et Sante, Revue Francaise d'Administration Publique and Revue Internationale de Gestion.
