1 TalkBiography
Professor Yvette van Kooyk obtained her Phd at the University of Amsterdam in 1993, studying Lymphocyte adhesion at the Netherlands Cancer Institute. From 1993 till 2001 she moved to University Hospital St Radboud Nijmegen, pioneering the field of integrin activation and adhesion functions of Dendritic cells. In 2001 she transferred... read morewith her research group to the become professor at the VU University Medical Centre in Amsterdam, to unravel Dendritic Cell biology and the function of C-type lectin receptors. She pioneered a number of disciplinary fields within medical biology and made several major breakthrough discoveries in the field of infectious diseases and cancer. Her work connects immunology with analytical glyco-chemistry. She has (co-)authored more than 190 peer-reviewed publications. She is inventor on 4 patents and is Chief Scientific Officer of the start-up biotech company DC4U-technologies. Her current work combines basic research to a translational setting aimed to identify glycans as DC targeting strategy to improve anti-tumor as well as glycans that inhibit inflammatory responses such as in auto-immunity.
