Frederic Geissmann's studies have helped characterize monocyte, macrophage, and dendritic cell subsets and their precursors in human and mice. He is currently studying the control of macrophage differentiation and functions in human, mice, and drosophila, and the contribution of the polymorphisms of macrophage-expressed genes to the genetic susceptibility to inflammatory diseases in humans.
