Steven A. Porcelli is currently the Murray and Evelyne Weinstock Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Janeway, Jr. After completing a residency in internal medicine, Dr. Porcelli became a Fellow and subsequently junior faculty member in the Division of Rheumatology, Immunology and Allergy at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. There, he carried out the first studies to show the function of CD1 molecules in antigen presentation to T cells, and also was a principle participant in early studies defining the NKT cell population in humans. He joined the faculty at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 2000, where his laboratory currently pursues multiple aspects of T cell biology with particular interests in NKT cells and in the development of new vaccines for prevention of tuberculosis.
