Biography

Chris Amos is the Chair of the Department of Biomedical Data Science, Head of the Center for Genomic Medicine and interim Director of the Norris Cotton Cancer Center at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. He has served as President of the International Genetic Epidemiology Society (in 2002) and... read morehas had leadership roles in the American Society of Human Genetics and the Genetic Analysis Workshop and currently serves on the Board of Scientific Counselors for the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences. He completed his PhD (in biometry) in 1988, at the Louisiana State University Medical Center, New Orleans. His areas of research interest include the development of novel methods for genetic analysis of cancer, rheumatological and cardiovascular diseases. The familial cancer syndromes that he is studying include hereditary nonpolyposis colon cancer, Peutz-Jeghers and Li-Fraumeni syndromes. He has consulted on a variety of projects, ranging from statistical analyses of risk factors for HIV transmission, population studies of cardiovascular disease risk factors to studies of the molecular epidemiology of various cancers.
