Donald G. Gifford is the Edward M. Robertson Research Professor of Law at the University of Maryland School of Law whose principal research and teaching specialties are mass torts and negotiation theory. Don is the author or editor of four books, including a leading law school negotiation text, and numerous... read morearticles about topics including negotiation, mass torts, products liability, climate change litigation, and medical malpractice. Gifford used his negotiation techniques constantly while serving as Dean of the University of Maryland School of Law from 1992 through 1999 and as Dean of the West Virginia University College of Law from 1989 through 1992. Before becoming a dean, Gifford was Professor of Law at the University of Florida where he worked extensively with the Florida legislature on medical malpractice and liability insurance issues. Gifford is a graduate of the College of Wooster and the Harvard Law School.
