Ariful Islam is an Associate Professor in the Department of Industrial and Production Engineering of the School of Applied Sciences and Technology, SUST, where he has worked for 13 years. His principal research activities are in the areas of risk management, quality management and productivity improvement of manufacturing systems. Apart from his current university, he worked as a Research Engineer in the National University of Singapore and as Academic Staff in the University of Auckland, New Zealand for several years. He is an active researcher and consultant for SMEs, currently conducting several research projects in connection with productivity improvement of furniture manufacturing industries and ready-made garment industries in Bangladesh.
