Gregory L. Holmes, MD, is Professor of Neurology and Pediatrics and Chairman of the Department of Neurology and Director of the Neuroscience Center at Dartmouth Medical School. He graduated from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in 1974 and did residencies in pediatrics at Yale University School of Medicine... read moreand pediatric neurology at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. He has been at Dartmouth Medical School since 2002. He spent 16 years at Harvard Medical School where he was Professor of Neurology serving as Director of the Division of Clinical Neurophysiology and Epilepsy, Children's Hospital. He did a sabbatical from 1996-1997 under the tutelage of Professor Y. Ben-Ari at INSERM Unit 29, Unite de Neurobiologie et Physiopathologie du Developpement, Paris. Dr. Holmes has a long history of training college, graduate school and medical students, residents, and postdoctoral fellows; having trained over 100 people since 1979. He is the Principal Investigator on a T32 training grant (Translational Neuroscience Postdoctoral Training Program 1T32N5051176) that is designed to provide a translational research experience for clinicians training in neurology, neurosurgery and psychiatry. Dr. Holmes is a pediatric neurologist who has both clinical and research interests in childhood epilepsy. He is widely published as a researcher focusing on the delineation, effects and treatment of pediatric/developmental epilepsy. In addition to being active in professional society and hospital committees, he has served on the editorial boards of 10 epilepsy and neurology journals and has been on multiple NIH study sections. Developing therapy to prevent epilepsy has been a lifelong goal.
