Prof Keyse is head of the Cancer Research UK Stress Response Laboratory within the Biomedical Research Institute at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee. He received his Ph.D in Photobiology from the University of Bath in 1983 and postdoctoral training at the Swiss Institute for Experimental Cancer Research (ISREC) in Lausanne. Since 1992 he has been head of the CR-UK Stress Response Laboratory at the University of Dundee where his research has focussed on the regulation of MAP kinase signalling by dual-specificity protein phosphatases.
