Jack Cuzick runs the internationally renowned Centre for Epidemiology, Mathematics and Statistics at the Wolfson Institute in London. Professor Cuzick has made a number of outstanding contributions to the field of biostatistics and epidemiology. He originally trained in mathematics and his early work was in stochastic processes. His widely disseminated position paper on the requirements for an effective screening program in 1986 led to major reorganization of the UK programme, and resulted in dramatic falls in mortality, which he and his colleagues have closely monitored. He has also been the world leader in advocating HPV testing for primary screening.
