Adrian Hayday the Kay Glendinning Chair in the Peter Gorer Department of Immunobiology at King's College London School of Medicine. He obtained a PhD in tumor virology in 1978 and carried out postdoctoral work at MIT.
Adrian Hayday's research focuses on how the immune system interacts with
cells... read morein tissues, both at the afferent stage and at the effector stage. His team studies intraepithelial T cells that collectively compose one of the largest, yet least well understood, T cell compartments in the body. Professor Hayday has succeeded in identifying critical roles for gamma-delta T cells in resistance to solid tumours, and in immunoregulation, particularly within tissues.
