Abstract
Today, most supply chains are intricately connected both across enterprises and also across geographical locations. Therefore, any disruption at any point in the supply chain could potentially disrupt the entire chain. There are some factors that are within the control of the enterprise, and others that are external to the enterprise. This paper looks at various types of mitigation actions to alleviate supply chain disruption, including Big Data analytics.

Author's Biography
Natarajan Arjun is Retired Vice President for Mattel operations in Malaysia and Thailand. Previously, he led manufacturing operations for Mattel in Mexico for 15 years. He has spearheaded major transformational initiatives in operations in these regions in order to maintain competitive performance over low labour cost areas such as China or Vietnam. He has implemented lean manufacturing concepts and ensured that leaders at all levels in the organisation have a lean mindset and an end-to-end supply chain approach. Nat has a 37-year tenure at Mattel in both Finance and Operations departments. Prior to this, he worked with Capitol Records and Intercontinental Hotels. He credits his experiences working in seven different countries across three continents as key to his first-hand knowledge of cultural diversity and insights into human motivation. Nat is a frequent speaker at global supply chain and logistics conferences and enjoys speaking on topics that range from the sociology of leadership to supply chain optimisation. He possesses an MSc in mathematics, an MBA, and is a CPA.
