Abstract
Challenged with the unprecedented impact of COVID-19 and a challenging geo-political landscape, the financial industry has positioned itself in survival mode for 2020. There is, however, a silver lining, and there has been much discussion recently about how the pandemic has accelerated digitisation, among other trends. On the back of this industry momentum, this paper highlights some digitisation trends improving areas, such as social capital, operational flows, business prospects and industry collaboration. The paper also shares what the industry can look forwards to in its next normal and fundamental considerations when working with evolving technology advancements to maximise its potential.

Author's Biography
Lisa O’Connor is the Head of Capital Markets Strategy at SWIFT. Based in Hong Kong, Lisa has over two decades of experience in Financial Technology and Banking. Her current global role focuses on opening up new markets and products for SWIFT. In previous roles at SWIFT, Lisa managed a team that provided consulting primarily to Financial Market Infrastructures. Prior to SWIFT, Lisa was at a Bank in Hong Kong where she was the Head of Securities Service and a Client Coverage for RMB Solutions where she worked with financial institutions on their China access. Lisa holds a bachelor of sciences degree from Syracuse University and a masters’ in business administration for Financial Professionals from Manchester Business School.
