Abstract
This paper discusses the growing need for, and adoption of, intelligent automation enabled solutions in capital markets operations. The paper begins by discussing the drivers of change that are making it imperative for capital markets firms improve their operational efficiencies. It then highlights how new technology such as robotic process automation, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML) – loosely grouped together and referred to as intelligent automation – can help improve automation and straight through processing. Based on real life use cases, the paper presents capital markets functions that are fit for application of intelligent automation solutions and discuss the benefits they can offer. The paper analyses how the landscape of intelligent automation solution providers are evolving and describe the different sourcing and engagement models available to capital markets firms. The paper concludes by discussing the challenges and considerations firms should be mindful of while exploring intelligent automation and the approach they should take for operationalising them.
