Abstract
This paper begins with an introduction on the changing roles of CSDs along the CSD business value chain. Then it gives a short history of the CSD of Turkey’s (MKK’s) transformation from a core depository services provider into a Research and Development Center by providing information on the various value-added services that were developed by the CSD. In the last section, the paper presents future trends in the CSD business that utilize emerging technologies, concluding that CSDs need to diversify their services considering the rapid pace of evolution in the business.

Author's Biography
Karaağaçli Bora Bora Karaağaçli, MSc, is a Senior Specialist in the international relations department of MKK. He has more than ten years’ experience in capital markets with a focus on financial market infrastructures. Bora has various publications in academic and industry journals on topics such as securities services, corporate governance, compliance and FinTech. He is also a member of domestic and international industry expert groups in these areas. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Koc University and a master’s degree in financial engineering from Bogazici University.
Uysal Özgür Özgür Uysal, PhD, is the Director of the trade repository department and the Deputy Director of sales and marketing at MKK. He has been working in the capital markets for more than 20 years and has management experience in several departments at MKK such as international relations, membership, reporting, corporate communications and research. He has a project manager role in the value-added services provided by MKK such as e-trade repository, risk appetite index (RISE) and electronic data warehouse. He holds a master’s degree from Marmara University on capital markets and a doctoral degree from Kadir Has University on financial banking and gives lectures on capital markets in Turkey.
Yağanoğlu Setenay Setenay Yağanoğlu, PhD(c), works as a Senior Specialist in the trade repository department of MKK. She is a Doctoral Candidate on finance, and her main area of interest is behavioural finance. She has been working in the capital markets for more than ten years and has worked in different fields such as research, training services and international relations. She is the team leader for the e-trade repository project at MKK. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in international relations from Bilkent University and a master’s degree from the University of Bristol.
