Abstract
This paper discusses the security, safety and health risks inherent in business travel and expatriate assignment in the current global environment. It explores the corporation's responsibility to mitigate these risks, presents strategies to do so, and highlights the consequences of failing in this regard. Two case studies of the impact of such oversight are presented. The reader should take away from this paper an appreciation of the gravity of travel risk, an understanding of corporate responsibility for its mitigation, and a basic strategy for developing and implementing risk mitigation plans.
