Abstract
Five or 10 years ago, the trade press and vocational building programmes took little notice of the field of renovation. New construction received almost all the attention in both the trade press and the curricula of vocational training programmes. To help rectify this situation, GI worked to set up a prize known as the Danish Renovation Award (RENOVER prisen). It has helped raise awareness of the field of renovation, and the renovation sector has welcomed the award with open arms.

Author's Biography
Lars Axelsen has been Managing Director in the Danish Landowners Investment Foundation since 1999. He is also CEO of BvB, a company that provides insurance against building damage. Until 2009, he was also CEO of SBS Byfornyelse, a company that conducts urban renewal. Previously, he had a long career as a civil servant in the Ministry of Housing, where he held the position as Permanent Deputy Secretary, among others. He holds a Master in Economics from the University of Copenhagen.
Søren Meyer has been Head of Project Development in the Danish Landowners Investment Foundation since 2012. Previously he was Chief Advisor at The Danish Construction Association, Construction Advisor at the engineering firm Nielsen & Risager A/S, Project Manager at Wood Information Agency and Building Manager at several building companies. He holds an education as a Carpenter and a Bachelors degree in Architectural Technology and Construction Management from the Copenhagen School of Design and Technology.
Bo Bjerre Hansen has been Communications Consultant in the Danish Landowners Investment Foundation since 2006. In charge of web, publications, social media, PR, etc. Previously, he had a career as a civil servant in the Ministry of Justice, Prison and Probation Service, where he held the position as Communications Officer. He holds a Masters Degree in Communications and International Relations from the University of Aalborg.
