Invite colleaguesA legacy of publications: Case study of the NIST Technical Series publications digitisation project
Abstract
In a world with digital information at users’ fingertips, print materials are often brushed aside as relics of the past. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Information Services Office (ISO) is digitising the agency’s legacy published content in order to preserve it and make it available to a broader user base. This activity supports ISO’s mission to create, maintain and disseminate a knowledge base that supports NIST scientific, engineering and technical research. This paper examines the evolution of the process to digitise and preserve NIST’s legacy technical reports and publications, from its inception and implementation to its current workflow and future goals.
