Environmentally led regeneration: Challenges and opportunities of green infrastructure

Abstract

The National Forest is described as one of England’s major landscape and environmentally led regeneration projects. Its relevance to national policy agendas is outlined, particularly green infrastructure in the context of proposed housing growth. Other green infrastructure projects in England and in Germany are referenced and compared with The National Forest. The approach to green infrastructure in The National Forest is outlined, with key success factors. Opportunities, challenges and lessons learnt are summarised.
