Mickey moved to the affiliated Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in 2013. Mickey's research focuses on intracellular protein sorting, organelle biogenesis and diseases that affect these processes. Most of his lab currently focuses on using the pigment organelle, the melanosome, as the model system.
