Biography

Sarfaraz K. Niazi obtained his PhD in pharmaceutical sciences from the University of Illinois, where he currently holds an adjunct faculty position following several decades of teaching. He established the category of “biosimilars” and has authored numerous books in the fields of biotechnology and pharmaceutical sciences; his publication record includes... read moreover 150 papers. Mr. Niazi holds more than 100 US patents and founded the first biosimilar company in the United States, successfully raising over $1 million. His current research interests encompass mRNA technology, gene therapy, and CRISPR technologies. He has played a significant role in drafting regulatory guidelines for the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), European Medicines Agency (EMA), and Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), along with numerous other countries. He possesses extensive experience in securing FDA approval for innovative biological drugs. Additionally, he is leading efforts in applying quantum mechanics to drug discovery and is at the forefront of integrating artificial intelligence tools into this process. Mr. Niazi resides in the Chicago area and maintains equity interests in several research companies.
