Biography

Mrs. Sascha Carey is a senior Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) professional whose work spans some of the most complex, high-risk operating environments across defense, petrochemical, and major infrastructure sectors. She has held senior safety leadership roles within the UK Ministry of Defence, U.S. Department of Defense contracted organizations and industry partners, as well as major global civilian organizations. Notable civilian experience includes a key safety leadership role on the United States’ first fully automated, driverless urban light metro rail system while working with Hitachi. There she focused on assurance, human factors, and system resilience in complex socio-technical systems. Mrs. Carey holds a Master of Engineering in Advanced Safety Engineering and Management from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management from Brenau University. She is a Fellow of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (FIIRSM), Chartered Quality Professional with the Chartered Quality Institute (CQP MCQI), a World Safety Organization (WSO) Certified Safety & Security Director (CSSD), ISO 9001 14001 & 45001 Lead Auditor, and holds the Public Transportation Safety Certification Training Program (PTSCTP) and Transit Safety & Security Professional (TSSP) credentials from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA).
