Biography

Jamie H.D. Cate is an Associate Professor at the University of California, Berkeley, working on the structure and function of RNA and the ribosome. He received his undergraduate degree at the University of Denver, and his PhD at Yale University, where he worked on the structural biology of catalytic RNAs.... read moreAs a Damon-Runyon Postdoctoral Fellow in the laboratory of Professor Harry F. Noller at the University of California, Santa Cruz, he determined the first X-ray crystal structure of the bacterial ribosome to moderate resolution. Jamie's current interests are the structural biology of bacterial and human translation.
