Biography

Sankar Ghosh received his PhD in Biochemistry and Biophysics from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York, in 1988. After postdoctoral training with David Baltimore at the Whitehead Institute, MIT, in 1991 he moved to a faculty position at Yale University School of Medicine in the Department of Immunobiology... read moreand Department of Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry. In 2008 he moved to Columbia University, College of Physicians & Surgeons in New York to become the Silverstein and Hutt Family Professor and Chairman of the Department of Microbiology & Immunology. Dr. Ghosh's research program is focused on understanding how engagement of receptors of both the innate and adaptive immune system lead to the activation of appropriate cellular responses through the inducible transcription factor, NF-kappa B.
