Biography

Michael McManus is an internationally recognized RNA biologist. He obtained his PhD from the University of Alabama in Birmingham, studying RNA editing in Stephen Hajduk's laboratory. He did his postdoctoral training as a Cancer Research Institute Fellow, in the laboratory of Nobel Laureate Phillip Sharp at MIT, studying the role... read moreof RNAi pathways in mammals. He is an Assistant Professor at the University of California San Francisco Diabetes Center, in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. He has a long standing interest in posttranscriptional gene regulation and the role of small RNAs in gene expression. His laboratory is focused on dissecting mechanisms of small RNA mediated regulation of gene expression in mouse models of human disease.
