Biography

Alastair Compston is Professor of Neurology and Head of the Department of Clinical Neurosciences at the University of Cambridge. He received his PhD for work on the immunogenetics of multiple sclerosis and his subsequent research has focused on demyelinating disease with an emphasis on genetic epidemiology, applied neurobiology and clinical... read moreneuroscience. He is the author of over 450 publications and, with colleagues, writes McAlpine's Multiple Sclerosis. Professor Compston received the Sobek Foundation International Research Prize in 2002. He is currently Editor of the journal Brain.
