Dr. Mark Cookson is a cell biologist who focuses on the effects of mutations associated with neurodegeneration on proteins and cells. He was born in the North of England, studied at Salford University then worked in Newcastle before joining the Mayo clinic in Jacksonville Florida. Since 2002, he has been part of intramural research program of the National Institute of Aging and is currently the chief of the Laboratory of Neurogenetics.
