Dr. Parida is a faculty of Oncology in Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center, Johns Hopkins Medicine, MD, USA. Her research... read moreis centered at a unique junction of two important breast cancer risk factors, namely, Microbiome and Obesity with Microbiome being my major focus area. The human microbiome is fascinating to since trillions of microbes reside in different niches within the body and the interaction between the eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells influence all life processes from energy metabolism and gene expression. Microbiome’s involvement in cancer is in its infancy and her goal is to investigate molecular underpinnings of host microbiome interaction leading to cancer initiation and metastasis in organs distant from the colon, the microbial hub of the human body.
