Dr. Shirley Coleman is Technical Director of NU Solve in the School of Maths, Statistics, and Physics at Newcastle University, UK. She is an applied statistician with special interest in exploring data and creating impact for the benefit of business and society. Shirley has a BSc in Mathematics (with first... read moreclass honours), MSc in Statistics, and PhD in Statistics, computer graphics, and morphometry. She previously worked in Hong Kong University and has given invited lectures in Australia, US, and many EU countries. She is Past President of the European Network for Business and Industrial Statistics (ENBIS) and currently co-ordinates the ENBIS Statistics in Practice group and a webinar series. She has worked on many Knowledge Exchange Partnerships with both small to medium enterprises (SMEs) and large organisations. She nurtures her expertise in academic, consulting, and business domains and has authored and co-authored 4 books and over 150 papers on data science, industrial statistics, business analytics, kansei engineering, emissions reduction, and quality improvement.
