Ole Petersen discovered agonist-evoked Calcium release from intracellular stores in 1972, pioneered recording of single Calcium- activated ion channels in epithelial cells in 1982 and demonstrated the Calcium tunnel properties of the endoplasmic reticulum in 1997.
