He is currently leading research focused on the use of mechanical stimulation for tissue and stem cell engineering and has developed patented technologies for the in vitro mechanical stimulation of stem cells. The focus of this work is vibrational stimulation of osteogenesis in bone marrow and adipose derived stem cells. As part of this, he is a co-investigator on the European Horizon 2020 ‘Healikick’ consortium which is aiming for clinical translation of stem cell and biomaterial approaches to bone grafting.
