Biography
Professor Mathew (Mat) Hughes is Professor and Chair in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the School of Business and Economics at Loughborough University. He has also served as... read moreAssociate Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Nottingham University Business School where he was also Director of the MSc Entrepreneurship and Deputy Director of Doctoral Programmes. He obtained his PhD in Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, under the supervision of Professor Robert Morgan (Cardiff University).
Mat’s research interests and knowledge lie at the nexus of entrepreneurship and strategy and include entrepreneurial orientation, innovation and ambidexterity, social capital, absorptive capacity, corporate entrepreneurship and strategy, family firms, internationalization, and business acceleration/incubation. His work has been published in such journals as Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, Journal of Product Innovation Management, Journal of World Business, British Journal of Management, and Journal of Small Business Management. Mat is a member of the editorial review boards of Journal of Management Studies, Journal of Business Venturing, British Journal of Management, Journal of Family Business Strategy and International Journal of Entrepreneurial Venturing.
Mat has won awards for his research and teaching. He is also a member of the Strategic Management Society and the Academy of Management. He has also served as a keynote speaker at international conferences, session chairs, and invited as an expert to conducti executive workshops on building the innovative organisation and building effective incubator networks, for example.
