Her laboratory uses next generation sequencing methods to detect new and emerging viruses in Uganda and the UK. She has worked on a number of viral infections including hepatitis C, Ebola virus, emerging rhabdoviruses in Uganda, CCHF and most recently SARS-CoV-2. She is a member of the COG-UK steering committee, the UK Vaccine Update Expert Advisory Group, Wellcome Genome Campus Advanced Courses and Scientific Conferences (ACSC) Clinical Advisory Panel and has worked for WHO as an external consultant.
