Biography

Diane E. Griffin attended Augustana College with a major in Biology and earned an MD and PhD in Immunology from Stanford University School of Medicine. She did fellowships in viral pathogenesis with Richard Johnson and in infectious diseases at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She joined the faculty there,... read morewas Chair of the Department of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology in the School of Public Health and is currently a Johns Hopkins University Distinguished Service Professor. She is past president of the American Society for Virology and American Society for Microbiology and current Vice President of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences. Her research is focused on the pathogenesis of viral encephalomyelitis and measles.
