Andrew Kaplan was an Associate Professor of Medicine and of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA. Andy passed away suddenly at the age of 47 on June 28, 2006, from unrecognized heart disease. Andy received his undergraduate degree from Harvard and a medical degree from Columbia. He moved to UCLA in 1993, but he returned to UNC with his wife Carol in 1998.
