1 TalkBiography
Nichola Hawkins is a plant pathologist at Rothamsted Research, UK. She studied a BSc in Environmental Biology at Wye College, where she became aware of the importance of sustainable agriculture for environmental protection, followed by an MSc at the Natural History Museum, London, learning how molecular methods could be used... read moreto shed new light on evolutionary questions. She then moved to Rothamsted Research, an agricultural science institute, for her PhD and postdoctoral research. Her research now applies evolutionary biology to crop protection, in particular the evolution of fungicide resistance in plant pathogens, and how a better understanding of the underlying evolutionary processes can lead to more sustainable crop protection practices.
