Nichola Hawkins is a plant pathologist at Rothamsted Research, UK. She then moved to Rothamsted Research, an agricultural science institute, for her PhD and postdoctoral research. Her research now applies evolutionary biology to crop protection, in particular the evolution of fungicide resistance in plant pathogens, and how a better understanding of the underlying evolutionary processes can lead to more sustainable crop protection practices.
