Prof. Emeritus Ian Tizard Texas A&M University, USA

Ian Tizard was born in Belfast and received his BVMS degree from the University of Edinburgh in 1965, followed by a BSc in Pathology in 1966 and a PhD in Immunology from the University of Cambridge in 1969. That same year, he moved to Guelph, Ontario, Canada, where he progressed... read morethrough the academic ranks to become a Full Professor. In 1977, he published the first edition of his Veterinary Immunology textbook, which has since become a leading reference work and is now in its 11th edition. In 1982, he moved to Texas A&M University as Head of the Department of Microbiology, and in 1999 was appointed Schubot Professor of Exotic Bird Health. He received an honorary DSc from the University of Guelph in 2013 and retired from academia in 2019.
