Hendrik Cronje is Executive Director of the Afrika Leadership Development Institute. He spent his early career (25 years) in a major South African group of companies with extensive interests in Africa and elsewhere in the world (Europe, U.S and Asia). The past years were committed to establishing a leadership centre as Director and Extraordinary Professor at the University of Pretoria. This was followed by establishing the Afrika Leadership Development Institute (LeadAfrika), a multi-university initiative focusing on Leadership for development, in 2004.

At LeadAfrika Dr Cronje has led numerous South Africa-wide programmes, including leading a project to research Gender Based Violence (GBV) and care of victims of GBV; running Women in Leadership programs in several organizations; establishing youth leadership development programs; leading a consortium of universities in delivering an Executive Leadership Development Program in the South African Parliament for which he received a special service award.
