She looks at how immune cells and commensal bacteria or pathogens talk to each other and how this communication shapes the immune response in infection, inflammation (e.g. inflammatory bowel disease), and delayed wound-healing. She also enjoys communicating her research to the public and believes it is a vital part of a scientist’s role in society and has discussed her work on the radio and TV and has received prizes and commendations for her public engagement work.
