Jeffrey Unerman is Professor of Accounting and Corporate Accountability in the School of Management at Royal Holloway, University of London, and from 2011 to 2016 was Head of School. Before joining Royal Holloway he was a professor at the University of Manchester.
He holds a PhD in social and... read moreenvironmental accounting from the University of Sheffield, is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and an honorary member of CPA Australia. He was the recipient of the British Accounting and Finance Association’s 2016 Distinguished Academic Award.
Among external roles, Jeffrey is a co-opted member of the ICAEW Council and vice-chair of the ICAEW Research Advisory Board. He is also a member of the Expert Panel of the Prince of Wales’s Accounting for Sustainability Project.
His research and public policy work focuses on the role of accounting and accountability practices in helping organizations become more sustainable, recognizing the interdependencies between economic, social and environmental risks and opportunities. A particular emphasis of this research is the use of accounting in making the social and ecological impacts of organizational activities more transparent and in encouraging the embedding of sustainability within organizational decision-making.
