Prof. Pierre Goloubinoff Lausanne University, Switzerland

Pierre Goloubinoff attended the University of Lausanne and obtained a Diploma in natural sciences in 1981 and earned his PhD at the Weizmann Institute in 1987. Lorimer the first experimental evidence that molecular chaperones can assist the correct (native) folding and assembly of... read moreprotein complexes in bacteria, and he co-designed the first in vitro biochemical chaperone assay, demonstrating that misfolded proteins can be passively prevented from aggregating and actively become refolded to their native state, by an ATP-fuelled chaperone. He was a professor of Biochemistry at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem until 2001. He is now a professor of Biochemistry at the University of Lausanne. He is an expert of protein biochemistry, in particular of the molecular mechanisms of HSP70, HSP60 and HSP100, and of the plant heat-shock response.
