Biography

Gerald Feigenson (b.1946): BS in Chemistry at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1968; PhD in Chemistry at Caltech in 1974; Postdoctoral work at Oxford with G.K. Radda. He joined the Cornell faculty as an Assistant Professor in 1974. He has established several fundamental properties of cell membranes, including the nature of... read morethe membrane protein lipid boundary layer, phase behavior of lipid mixture models of the plasma membrane, and the nature of line tension at the boundary of membrane rafts. He is the co-founder of the Cornell Field of Biophysics. He has taught undergraduate biochemistry for many years.
